CHRG Seminar Series 2022 – Danielle Chubb – Wednesday 25 May 11am

Danielle Chubb – Australian Public Opinion, Defence and Foreign Policy: Attitudes and Trends Since 1945

In this seminar, Danielle will discuss the main findings of her most recent co authored monograph, “Australian Public Opinion, Defence and Foreign Policy: Attitudes and Trends Since 1945”. The book examines the impact of Australian public opinion towards defence and foreign policy from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. This book identifies and examines the key trends in the public’s view of defence and security, drawing on decades of longitudinal data around public opinion and Australian foreign policy, and provides insights into key foreign policy debates, including Australia’s alliance with the U.S., interactions with Asia and China, and the distinctive challenges posed to Australia by its geographic position.

Dr Danielle Chubb is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at Deakin. Danielle’s main research interests are the policy dynamics of the Korean peninsula, the role of non-traditional actors in security arenas, human rights activism, and the interaction of policy and public opinion in Australia. Danielle has published books on Australian foreign policy and North Korean human rights.

Join us in person at Deakin Burwood (C2.05.01), Deakin Waurn Ponds (IC2.108) or via zoom.
