Mathew Turner completed his PhD at Deakin University in 2016. He is a former German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) research scholar, and postdoctoral fellow at the Zentrum für Holocaust-Studien in Munich in 2018. Mathew’s research interests include Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, historians as expert witnesses, German antisemitism, and responses to Holocaust denial. He has taught various undergraduate history subjects at Deakin since 2012, and presented his research at international conferences in Australia, Europe, and the United States. Mathew has written articles that appear in European History Quarterly, Genocide Studies and Prevention, and The International Journal of the History of Sport. His book titled Historians at the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trial: their Role as Expert Witnesses was published by I.B.Tauris in 2018. Mathew also has written about Australian football and match-fixing, and co-authored (with Tony Joel) On The Take: The 1910 Scandal That Changed Football Forever published by Slattery Media Group in 2020.
